Who can apply?
The Talamh festival specialised in Land Art but this new residency is open to artists and creatives of all disciplines, at all stages of their career. So whether you’re a filmmaker, a philosopher, a researcher or a curator we want to hear from you. We are interested in people who are:
- Producing work that has meaningful impact
- Seeking time for personal or project development
- Focused on the environment and the natural world
- Contributing to global peace and community wellbeing
- Producing work that brings hope, joy, and inspiration
- Climate champions, changemakers and community artists
Applicants must be over the age of 18 and can be based anywhere in the world but we are particularly encouraging applications from Ireland as we would like to support and grow the environmental and creative community here.
Why do you want to do a TALAMH NUA artist residency?!
In the application, you will be asked what you would like to do during your residency. Do you simply want to stop, breathe and think about your work? Do you already have a creative project in mind that you would like to develop? Do you just want to get up every day and make art and go with the flow? What style of residency would be most beneficial to you? The more clarity you can share with us about this in advance the easier it will be for your wishes to be fulfilled!
Public Event
As part of your TALAMH NUA residency you will be asked to devise and host some kind of public event. It’s up to you but this might be a presentation of your work, a special film screening, an open day or a community artwork.
Apart from this public event, there will be no other public obligations. If you would like to collaborate we can invite local creatives to join you. If you would like to spend your residency in quiet solitude, that’s OK too!
How much does it cost?
We have received seed funding from Creative Ireland via Waterford City and County Council. This means that we can currently offer free accommodation, food and local transport to the invited guests. We do not offer a stipend or cover travel costs.
We are happy to issue an official letter of invitation if you would like to apply elsewhere for funding to cover your travel costs. You will need some spending money if you will be partaking in some Guinness or extravagant meals out!
Selection Panel
Whether you have been invited to apply, or have just found this online, please note that a selection panel will adjudicate each application fairly. You will be contacted as soon as possible with a decision. There are limited spaces for this residency so please don’t be disheartened if we are unable to include you at this time.
If this resonates with you, we warmly invite you to apply HERE
